AATCC Design Competition.

The 2022 AATCC Concept 2 Consumer Student Design Competition aims to review how students use their design and problem-solving skills toward textileand apparel design. This year’s objective is to create a sustainable travel wear line that puts emphasis on recycled materials, sustainable manufacturing, and antibacterial and/or odor-control properties. This project highlights my in-depth understanding of sustainable alternatives that can be implemented throughout the supply chain as well as inherent textile properties that can keep consumers safe while adding value and longevity to their clothing. Additionally, my technical flat, textile design, inclusive design, and market research skills are showcased.

Cultural Appreciation.

The goal of this project was to enhance my understanding of the history, origins, and symbology of another culture through textile design. In doing so, I also became more aware of how not to engage in cultural appropriation and its adverse effects on already marginalized people/communities. My approach to this project highlights my extensive cultural and market research skills as well my ability to tastefully appreciate culture through original textile and apparel designs.

House of Cards.

This project’s objective was to draw inspiration from an assigned card from ‘House of Cards’ to incorporate into a design concept. Not only is this a display of my ability to creatively apply a concept given to me, but it also displays my ability to choose fabrics that suit my design needs as well as my first attempt using Illustrator to create technical flats.

Inspiration Board and Collection.

This project aimed to translate market research into cohesive inspiration and collection boards. ‘Grounded’ showcases my trend forecasting research ability as well as my developed technical skills in Adobe Photoshop through image and pattern manipulation and shading.

Collection on Croquis.

The goal of this project was to create a set of croquis to showcase current and future designs as well as using market research to create three looks. ‘Pretty in Power suits’ highlights my croquis and garment illustration skills through Adobe Photoshop and, more specifically, the dodge and burn tools for depth and detail.

Technical Flat Collection.

The objective of this project was to create a variety of technical flats which are critical in accurately communicating garment design details and proportions. This also highlights my proficiency in Adobe Illustrator tools such as the pen, reflect, and anchor point tools.
